BATTLE OF THE CLUBS 2016

Clubs from all over New Zealand will venture to Taupo this weekend to compete in the fundraiser event for the 3 riders too represent New Zealand at the Motocross des Nations later on this year. Widely regarded as the “Olympic Games of motocross” – with a three-rider Kiwi squad having remarkably reached the podium at this international spectacle on three separate occasions.

The club-based teams at the BOTC (Battle of the clubs) each comprise six riders – three junior and three senior riders – who will compete on 85cc, 125cc, 250cc and 450cc machines.

This year Rodney Motocrycle club has put forward a team which includes riders from around the area. Our very own Jack Rodgers will be riding in the 85cc class against New Zealands junior champions of the 85cc class . We wish you the very best Jack.

Each contestant rides twice, with the two worst results to be discarded so that only 10 of the 12 results are counted in the final tally.

The South Waikato Motorcycle Club won last year’s BOTC event, while previous winners were the Pukekohe Motorcycle Club, the Bay of Plenty MCC  and the host Taupo MCC.

The entry fee from each of the clubs, plus a gold coin donation from spectators and the proceeds from raffle ticket sales go towards the riders representing New Zealand later on this year at the Motorcross of Nations.
